Cardinal JV fights it out with Golden Valley

The Cardinal JV football team took on the Golden Valley Grizzlies Friday and missed winning by just one point. Golden Valley managed to pull off a 13-12 win over Santa Paula in a hard-fought contest. The Cards scored first, late in the first quarter when Esteban Magana carried the ball into the end zone.The Grizzlies answered with a touchdown about one minute into the second quarter, tying the score at six apiece. Seven minutes later Golden Valley scored again.The Cards tried to catch up but couldn’t score in the third quarter. They got another TD in the fourth quarter when Steven Kohr intercepted a pass. Quarterback Hayed McClain tossed the ball to Magana for six more points. The point after attempt was no good and Golden Valley held on to win.
