The Cardinal wrestling team is hoping to win the Frontier League Championship again this season, making it three in a row. Coach Robert Hastie says he is confident the team will three-peat this season. It would be a first in probably 25 years at Santa Paula High according to Hastie. “This year will probably come down to Santa Paula and Fillmore,” Hastie said. That’s been the scenario the past two seasons, with Santa Paula taking the title in the last match of the evening. Santa Paula will host Fillmore in the final league match on January 28.Hastie says he has 13 girls wrestling this year, the highest ever. Three girls who placed in CIF wrestling are returning this year. Hastie expects five of the boys to place in CIF this year. The team will be at home next Tuesday against Buena, starting at 6:00 p.m.
