The competition this year is strong with other local well known nominees like: Franklin for Short, Rachel Sedacca, Alan Thornhill, Acadiana, Teresa Russell, and Nathan McCuen, just to name a few. There are about 15 wide ranging categories from all genres of music: country, rock, metal, alternative, faith based, instrumental, to name a few.The two songwriters have taken out an ad to encourage people to vote. During MAVRIC Week, nominees will be performing at live venues. John Wisda will be at Borders Bookstore in Thousand Oaks this Friday Jan 16. Charles Law will be at Rookees on January 21. Later this year, in October, they are scheduled to play a live concert at the Ebell Theatre in Santa Paula.

Two Santa Paula songwriters have had their songs nominated for MAVRIC AWARDS. The MAVRIC AWARDS are yearly awards given only to Ventura county musicians and songwriters. This year, 139 musicians submitted over 1500 songs to be judged. 80% of the judging is done by a panel of musicians and music professionals while the remaining 20% is by online voting. The awards ceremony will be held on February 22 at the Kavli Theatre in the Thousand Oaks Civic Center.
Charles Law was nominated in both the POP and ROCK categories while John Wisda was nominated in the ACOUSTIC category.We are hoping that Santa Paulans will support us and vote for our songs online” said John Wisda. “Last years winners all had large email campaigns. Public input is an important part of the voting.
