The Cardinal track team is hoping for a third Frontier League Championship this year. Coach Hank Almanza says he has over 100 students signed up for this season, the most he’d ever had. “We’re trying to capture our third league title in a row, Almanza said. He said they have over 60 girls on the team this year, as compared to only 33 last year. He’s also had a lot of athletes from fall and winter sports signing up for track.Almanza said they desperately need financial assistance and to watch for notice of fundraisers. He said donations are especially needed for repairs to the high jump pits and bus transportation fees. For donation information you can call Almanza at 258-4636.
The track squad is competing this afternoon (Wednesday) at Fillmore High School, starting at 3:00 p.m. Tomorrow they’ll be at Channel Islands High.
