Backstage at SPTC (Santa Paula Theater Center), the recently revived alternative performance space, announces open auditions for the production of Diana Son’s play “Stop Kiss.”

Backstage at SPTC (Santa Paula Theater Center), the recently revived alternative performance space, announces open auditions for the production of Diana Son’s play “Stop Kiss.” All roles are open.Auditions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, May 27 and 28, at 7 p.m. at the Santa Paula Theatre Center, 125 S. 7th St., with callbacks to be decided later. Audition sides from the script will be available upon your arrival. No need to bring a photograph of yourself if you don’t have one.“Stop Kiss” will run three consecutive weekends beginning Friday, August 7, and closing Sunday August 23, nine performances total. Rehearsals will commence in June for principal actors, with a heavier rehearsal schedule to follow in July for all.Setting: Present day in New York CityThe Story: “A poignant and funny play about the ways, both sudden and slow, that lives can change irrevocably,” says Variety. After Callie meets Sara, the two unexpectedly fall in love. Their first kiss provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate.
Actors: Female roles are Callie, late 20s; Sara, mid-20s to late 30s; and Mrs. Winsley/Nurse, late 30s to mid-50s. Male roles are George, late 20s to early 30s; Peter, mid-20s to early 30s; and Detective Cole, late 30s to mid-50s.We encourage all interested persons to venture out and audition for a role on stage or volunteer to handle duties behind the scenes as part of our technical crew by taking on the responsibility of stage manager or of lighting/sound technician. No experience is necessary. We will train you.Backstage at SPTC provides an exciting alternative performance space to present edgier, dramatic material that is not particularly suited for our SPTC Main Stage.
