JV Lady Cardinals win, but varsity loses against visiting Carpinteria Warriors

The Lady Cardinals took on Carpinteria last week.

The JV girls overpowered the visiting Warriors, 42-31.  The Santa Paula JV took charge of the game from the start, outscoring the visitors 12-1 in the first quarter of play.  At the half the Cards led 25-7.  The Warriors tried to make a comeback in the second quarter but couldn’t get past the Lady Cardinal defense.

Top scorers for Santa Paula were: Lizzette Ramirez and Zionne Lee 11, Ciara Ramirez 8 and Sarah Jordon 7 points.

The varsity had a harder time, losing to the Warriors, 50-28.

First year coach Vanessa Lowe still had praise for her team.  “It was one of their best rebounding games for both offense and defense,” she said.

Top Santa Paula scorers were: Lupita Ramirez 12, Ana Garcia 4 and Yesenia Mancilla 4.
