She began her educational career as a teacher at Gateway School, Camarillo, then at the Santa Paula Union High School District she was assigned as Associated Student Body director. Ms. Salas gives thanks to all her mentors in the educational field, as well as to those she worked with when she began her service in the summers, first working for the Recreation Department, then the Boys & Girls Club in Santa Paula.

Oxnard Union High School District School Board trustees recently announced the April 22, 2010 appointment of Lisa Salas to the position of director of Student Testing, Scheduling, Reporting, Student & Parent Connections and Public Relations for the Oxnard district.
The appointment will take effect July 1, 2010.
Ms. Salas has served as the assistant principal of Hueneme High School for the last two years, and the year before that as dean. Prior to Hueneme she served in various administrative capacities at Fillmore Middle School.
