The award was presented “in recognition of his extraordinary personal commitment as an advisor to multiple organizations. His efforts have positively impacted the organizations in significant ways, and enabled them to excel in fulfilling their missions and goals.”

Dr. Kennedy is an associate director of student services/EOP at UCSB and a professor at Antioch University. He has worked at UCSB for over 25 years.

This year he also received the Outstanding Staff Award, given by the Residence Hall Association and the Office of Residential Life. He previously received the prestigious Margaret T. Getman Service to Students Award, for outstanding university staff, and the Kern County Superintendent of Schools – Migrant Education/Region 5 award for supporting their pre-college program for children of farm workers.

In 2009 Dr. Kennedy was asked by the University of California to be part of the security leadership team for graduation services at UC Merced, where First Lady Michelle Obama was to speak.
