Master Sergeant Theodore Ayon retires

Master Sergeant Theodore Ayon has been assigned to the 37 TRSS as an instructor supervisor, Military Training Instructor School, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He was honored at a retirement ceremony there on June 11.
Sergeant Ayon was born on July 25, 1966 in Oxnard. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1984.
In April of 1985, he attended basic training as a security specialist. Upon graduation he was assigned to the 48th Security Police Group, RAF Lakenheath, United Kingdom. During this assignment he performed duties as entry controller for priority “A” and “C” resources, as well as Flight Armorer.
In September of 1988 he was accepted for Military Training Instructor (MTI) duty at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. While assigned to the 3703 BMTS, Sergeant Ayon was recognized as NCO of the Quarter for July-September 1990. His peers also recognized him as “Most Professional MTI” on two separate occasions.
Upon completion of MTI duty, Sergeant Ayon was then assigned to the 49th Security Police Squadron, Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. Again, he performed duties as entry controller for priority “A” resources and was selected as NCOIC, Armory. During this assignment, he was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate from Airman Leadership School.
Sergeant Ayon was reaccepted for MTI duty in July 1995, and, upon recertification, he was assigned to the 322 TRS. There, he performed duties as Military Drill & Ceremonies NCO and was again recognized as NCO of the Quarter for July-September 1996.
In August of 1997, Master Sergeant Ayon was awarded the coveted Master Military Training Instructor “Blue Rope” distinguishing him as the top 10 percent of the MTI Corps. Through his hard work and dedication, Sergeant Ayon was hired as a Standardization Evaluation Branch Inspector, a highly recognizable position for the MTI Corps. His next duty was as a section supervisor in the 321 TRS. In 2002, Sergeant Ayon was awarded the “Commanders Excellence Award.”
In February 2003, he was assigned to his current position in the Military Training Instructor School. Sergeant Ayon was awarded his Associate in Applied Science Degrees in Criminal Justice and Instructor of Technology and Military Science through the Community College of the Air Force in 2004.
His passion for training and commitment to excellence earned him distinction as an AETC Master Instructor and receiving the coveted Occupational Instructor Certificate. He has been recognized as SNCO Instructor of the Year for 2004, 2005 and 2009, as well as SNCO of the Year for 2008. His military decorations include the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
Ayon is the son of Naomi Gonzales, and the brother of Maria Perez. He is married to the former Andrea K. Coble, and they have four children: Daniel, Damon, Derrick and Dominic.
