WOW! What a great evening of fireworks!

Thank you so much to the committee that believed in giving Santa Paula such a great event.

We all know that there are many good causes in Santa Paula but sometimes everyone needs to get behind and support events that are just good old fashioned fun.

It was such a pleasure to walk down Ventura Street on the way to the fireworks at Harding Park and see all the families out in their yards enjoying BBQ’s and family time together.  The park was full of people of all ages, young and old.

It brings to mind the fact, that if every household were to give only $2.00 each, right now, the committee would have enough money for next year’s event. This is an inexpensive way to bring families together and you don’t even have to leave your home. From so many homes in Santa Paula, the fireworks could be seen. The GIANT finale was the best that we have ever seen. Santa Paula celebrated the birthday of our great country in such a grand way.

If you enjoyed the event please, send a donation today to:

Drop off any donation to Maria at Santa Clara Valley Bank, 901 E. Main Street, Santa Paula

Thank you again to all those that work so hard to make Santa Paula the happening place.

Santa Paulans make it happen!

To the Editor:

The Fireworks Committee hopes that everyone enjoyed the fireworks show on the Fourth of July. We want to give a big thank you to the community for making it possible. We especially want to thank the City of Santa Paula, and most of all Mayor Jim Tovias, for their assistance in making the display possible. We also want to thank the Police and Fire Departments for their work at the event and, in particular, Deputy Chief Kevin Fildes for handling all the logistics.

Fireworks would not have come about this year without the generous donations of our sponsors: Calavo, Consolidated Disposal, FRESKA Produce, Limoneira, the Santa Paula Rotary Club, Santa Paula Airport Association, Santa Paula Chevrolet, the Santa Paula Firefighters Association and Santa Paula Water, along with our major donors: Carla and Harold Edwards, the Mexican American Chamber of Commerce, Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce, Santa Paula Kiwanis, the Santa Paula Police Association, and Deb and Otto Schimmel.

But most of all we appreciated the donations from folks in the community - checks as well as pennies in the donation cans. The community made the fireworks happen!

Finally, a hard working committee also needs to be thanked for all their efforts. Julie Lopez made all the donation cans and helped collect funds. Tim and Cathy Hicks and Michele Johns worked tirelessly and were invaluable. We also appreciated the assistance of Rick Araiza, Maria Bombara, John Chamberlain and Dennis Culver. And to those of you who put money in donation cans at the event, your help will give us a start on making sure we have fireworks again next year.
