Still time to be a star in televised 2010 Citrus Festival Parade

There’s still time to be a star in Saturday’s televised 43rd Annual Kiwanis Citrus Festival Parade, and although all entries will have their chance to shine those last minute ones won’t be eligible for the array of prize trophies.

The theme for this year’s parade and festival – July 16, 17 and 18 at Harding Park - is “The World is a Rainbow of Citrus.”

According to Parade Chairperson Janet Grant, entries will be welcome even on the morning of the parade. As with previous Citrus Festival Parades there is no entry fee, even for those categories that will be judged and awarded trophies.

Grand Marshal Dan Robles, AKA Mr. Blanchard Community Library, honored for his devotion to BCL and the Santa Paula community, will lead this year’s 43rd annual parade.

Parade participants are urged to consider using this year’s festival theme in their entries, even if it’s just a touch of lemon yellow, avocado green or orange. And consider mixing it up with Roy B. Giv – red, (more) orange, (more) yellow, blue, (more) green, indigo and violet, the colors of the rainbow.

There will plenty of floats, churches, individuals, service clubs and organizations, kids on bikes, youth and adult groups, car clubs, equestrians, musicians, clowns, businesses and everyone else with a sense of fun to take part in this year’s parade.

Parade watchers will be sure to line-up along East Main Street when the parade steps out from 7th Street; and the lively procession will head east all the way to 11th Street.

Trophies will be awarded immediately following the parade at the Gazebo, located at the intersection of Mill and East Santa Barbara streets.

The filmed parade offers wide exposure and free advertising for all participants through multiple television replays by Time Warner Cable Channel throughout Ventura County. And the parade will be aired even more often in Santa Paula on Time Warner Cable Channel 10!
