Cardinal JVs embarrass visiting Santa Clara team

In their first league game of the season, the Lady Cardinal JV team shut out Santa Clara 23-0, in a game called after five innings because of the mercy rule. Alicia Castillo pitched a very strong game, staying on the mound for the entire game for Santa Paula. She walked one batter, struck out six and gave up only two hits.On the offensive side, the Lady Cards ruled the day. Rebecca Kolbeck led the attack. She had two hits, walked twice and drove in four runs. Brittany Barker was close behind with four walks, a single and she had three RBIs. Barker was also a strong force defensively.Monica Garcia recorded two hits, one walk and two runs. Mallory Ruiz had one hit, was walked twice and crossed home plate three times.
