The Santa Paula varsity won a non-league game against Bishop Diego at Santa Barbara City College Saturday night, 19-12.

Esteban Magana scored all three of the Santa Paula touchdowns.  The first came in the second quarter with Bishop ahead 6-0.  Magana took the ball in from five yards out to tie the game.  His second came in the third quarter with an 8-yard run.  His final TD was in the beginning minutes of the fourth quarter from the 12-yard line.  Santa Paula tried for two points after the TD, but was unsuccessful.

Magana finished the game with just under 100 rushing yards.  Armando Ramirez led the cards in rushing with 110 yards.  Quarterback Kameron Klein had 58 yards on the ground and 55 passing yards.

Bishop Diego tried to catch up in the closing minutes of the fourth, but the Santa Paula defense held them back.  Steven Kohr and Marcus Lugo each intercepted a Bishop pass.  Santa Paula also recovered two Bishop fumbles to aid their cause.

Santa Paula came into the contest with two injured starters and two others were hurt during the game.

The Cardinals, now at 2-1 for the season, play host to Hueneme in a non-league game Friday.  Game time is 7:30 p.m.
