Perry D. Davidson Perry D. Davidson, 86, of Santa Paula, was called home Sunday, April 22, 2001 at his residence following a long illness.Born November 13, 1914 in Menard, Texas, he was a county resident since his youth. Don retired in 1978 from Dave’s Building Supplies. Prior to this he was yard foreman at People’s Lumber in Santa Paula until it closed in 1970. He worked part time at Mupu School for 40 years.In 1940 he married Midge Lindsey. Their long union ended with her death in 1999. He and Midge were lifelong members of the Santa Paula Church of Christ.Don was a joy to all who knew him. The twinkle in his eye and the laughter he shared so easily brought many people into his large circle of friends. He loved reading Louis L’Amour novels, reading each of them many times.He is survived by his children, son Rex D. Davidson and his wife, Kathryn and their children, GeorgeAnne and Stephanie; daughter Donna Burton and husband Ron and their children, Scott and Kristen; daughter Deborah Malone and her husband Frank and their children, Zachary, Mallory, Max, and Sky Cooper and his wife Marilyn; son Brett Davidson and daughter Ashley. He is also survived by his brother, Boots Davidson; sister-in-law Mary “Nanny” Armstrong and her husband Charles; sister-in-law Erma Camp and husband Jerry; sister-in-law Fernie Lindsey; and brother-in-law Dean Lindsey and his wife Ruth. He was very much loved by his numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.Don has been comforted by the care and companionship of his family and niece and nephew Jane and Milt Lax; friends, Stanley Griffiths, Charles Perry and Morris Ragner, and many others.
Don’s frequent phone calls and humor will be missed by all. The family greatly appreciates the support of Medical Hospice to honor Don’s wishes to die at home and join his wife Midge. His suffering is over.Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 25 at 11 a.m. at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, with Jim Huggins of the Santa Paula Church of Christ officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions to your favorite charity would be appreciated.Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula.
