A Santa Paula man was arrested Saturday by Ventura Police for his alleged role in a stabbing that occurred last month.
Anthony Trejo, 24, was the third and last suspect sought in the April 14 incident described as gang related by Ventura Police.
According to Ventura Police, the April 14 incident occurred at about 7:50 p.m. when the victim was involved in a fistfight with Jordan Patterson, 21, of Oxnard, near the intersection of Hummingbird Street and Peacock Avenue. Once the fight was over Patterson left the area; however he returned with Richard Rodriguez, 29, of Oxnard, and Trejo. The trio ran down the victim and cornered him in a carport, where he was stabbed several times.
A Ventura Police spokesman said the suspects fled the scene, leaving the unidentified victim in the roadway where he was found. The victim was transported to Ventura County Medical Center and was treated for his non-life threatening injuries.
Ventura Police arrested both Patterson and Rodriguez without incident on April 18. They were booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of charges of assault with a deadly weapon, street terrorism through gang involvement, terrorist threats, conspiracy, and parole violations.
Ventura Police asked the public to help them find Trejo, and they distributed a poster with his photograph that included information on offering anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers. Trejo was found at 4:53 p.m. Saturday, May 21 in an apartment complex in the 6300 block of Hummingbird Street.
Ventura Police stated Trejo resisted arrest, but was eventually taken into custody and booked into Ventura County jail. Trejo was arrested on suspicion of street terrorism through gang involvement, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and attempted murder, as well as parole violation, possessing drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest, police said.
Patterson and Rodriguez remain in the jail without eligibility for bail.
