The Cardinal boys soccer teams took on strong Oaks Christian teams Friday and played them both to tie games.

The winds were at full force changing the style of the game for both teams. Both teams fought hard, yet neither team had a great chance on goal. Humberto Diego played solid defense and Rudy Soto made 5 saves. The final JV score was 0-0.

The Cardinals dominated the first half of the varsity game as they possessed the ball 70 percent of the time. Christian Cordova had 3 shots as well as Jose Gomez. It wasn’t until Eric Salgado made a cross and Jesus Roman tapped in a goal. The score at half was 1-0.

In the second half, Oaks Christian scored on a penalty kick when there was a collision by goalie Marky Ayala and an Oaks player. Oaks Christian’s Andrew Delaplane finished the penalty kick. There was tremendous defense by Luis Magana and midfield play by Pascual Tobias. The game finished at 1-1.

JV: 6-5-2 (2-2-2).  Varsity: 5-5-4 (2-2-2).  The boys travel to Malibu today.
