Bedell Elementary School parents and volunteers worked together to paint a gigantic map of the U.S.A on the blacktop over a recent weekend. The map will act as an indicator to keep track of the school’s goal to collect a dollar for every mile that stretches between Santa Paula and the Pentagon then on to New York City. Bedell’s students will map their way while attaining their goal to collect $2,947. by December 13th. The money is going to the victims of the September 11th terrorist attack and their families to help get them through the holidays. Currently, the students have collected about $300. The map project is sponsored by the Pac Bell Pioneers that donated the paint template, paint, and time. Linda Hutton and Laura Engi, both Pac Bell Pioneers volunteered their Saturday to help get the project completed along with Bedell helpers, Sara Hidalgo, Pam Oliver, Rebecca Ackerman, Noel Adams, Rozanne Rocksvold, Art Hidalgo, Mary Alice Washburn, Jerry Washburn, Jeff Robinson, and Laura Phillips. If you would like to help Bedell reach their goal, please call 933-5355. Photo by Pat Untiedt, Santa Paula Elementary School District
