Arrests made following residential burglary

By Peggy Kelly Santa Paula TimesThree suspected burglars exchanged loot for jail after they robbed a Santa Paula home and were captured while leaving the scene after a witness called in the incident to police, noting there was a burglary in process.According to Santa Paula Police Sgt. Michael Saviers, the robbery occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at about 10:20 a.m. in the 200 block of California Street, located between Harvard Boulevard and Ventura Street.Police received the report of a burglary in progress and that the three suspects were leaving the scene in a white Chevrolet pickup truck.“Senior Officer Jimmy Fogata,” and his K-9 partner, Sultan, observed the vehicle and pulled it over.The suspects were detained and after being identified as the burglars were arrested.
Santa Paula residents Joseph McMullen and Rudolfo Navarro as well as Oxnard resident Jesus Aguilar, the ages of the suspects is still unknown, were taken into custody on suspicion of burglary.The three men were booked at Santa Paula Police Station and then transferred to Ventura County Jail.“The investigation is continuing,” said Sgt. Saviers.The incident is an example of the results of people willing to become involved when they observe a crime by reporting it to police.
