Rita Garcia Lopez

Rita Garcia Lopez, 68 of Santa Paula, California, earned her wings on Saturday, September 19, 2015. She was given as a blessing along with her twin sister Rachel Garcia on January 6, 1947, to Benjamin & Consuelo Garcia also known as Bennie & Connie. She was a lifelong resident of Ventura County.

Rita and Rachel were both called home way too soon. But as we know, we are all Gods borrowed children. So we made sure to love, cherish, and enjoy every minute while we had her.

Rita was a very loving and dedicated wife to her husband Freddy Lopez, who she is now happily reunited with once again. Rita was also a very loving and caring mother to her one and only son Xavier Ryan Lopez, who was both their pride and joy. Rita was a very strong, independent, loving, joyful, and caring woman with a heart of gold. If you ever needed “anything,” Rita was always willing to give it to you, which also came extra with her motherly advise (whether you wanted to hear it or not). Rita was such a fun free spirit who always loved to have fun, laugh, and smile. She always showed everyone love, even if she was making fun of them in a good way. She was very outgoing and well known by the community and is going to be missed by many.

Rita was a very hard worker and always had a lot of passion for what she did, whether it be doing top secret assignments at Northrup, working at Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, or caring for her clients who were her family at Arc. After a long battle with cancer and many rounds of chemo and radiation, Rita closed her eyes, caught a glimpse of paradise and heard God say, “It is time my child for you to be free of pain and come home.”

She was surrounded by a lot of love and prayers by her family during the transition of receiving her wings and flying into heaven, as we all immediately knew we had gained a personal angel to watch over and guide us all.

Rita is preceded in death by her husband Freddy Lopez. She is survived by her only son, Xavier Ryan Lopez, parents Benjamin & Consuelo Garcia of Santa Paula, her brother Richard Garcia Sr., her sisters Rose Gomez & Ruby Garcia who is a Nun known as Sister Miguel Jose De Our Lady of Guadalupe at Monastery of Poor Clare’s in Santa Barbara. She was also an aunt of 31 including all generations who she loved dearly and was loved back just as much.

In honor of Rita we are all wearing lavender on the day of her funeral. We hope to see all her loved ones there. We would also like to say a special Thank You to everyone who came down to see her and put a smile on her face, most of all in her heart. That meant the world to her and we can’t thank you all enough.

Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and forever dear.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to Me”. With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A Golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Saint Sebastian Church in Santa Paula. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, September 25, 2015 with interment to follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.
