Twenty-six twinkling holiday trees circled the Boys & Girls Clubs oaf Santa Clara Valley Santa Paula Clubhouse Saturday where hundreds of guests tried their best to take one home at the 5th Annual Light Up the Season raffle.

And that included the All I Want for Christmas is You Money Tree sponsored by Santa Paula Community Bank and designed by Diana Williams. The tree held $250, each dollar bill carefully creased and tied with a ribbon.

Each tree was a standout with themes ranging from Winter Classic: The Nutcracker donated and designed by B&GCSCV Board President Ari Larson, that featured dozens of the soldiers in various sizes for various uses from just to enjoy to a practical cookie jar.

Amid the dozens of colorful decorations on the All Good Things Come in Small Packages was tucked away a magnificent pearl with diamond accents necklace, sponsored by George Thompson Diamond Company and decorated by Becci Orlando, the founder and Chairwoman of the annual club fundraiser.

Club CEO Jan Marholin welcomed the capacity crowd noting that the clubhouse equaled the Community Center for seating.

“Thank you for being here, it’s our most fun event,” that is possible only because of the efforts of many including staff and volunteers.

Board Treasurer Mike Mobley’s Progressive Management crew had covered the skylights in the building to make sure the trees sparkled throughout the event said Marholin who noted the celebration’s other sponsors and donors who paid to have a tree decorated if they did not do so themselves, such as Gina Marquez whose All I Want for Christmas is Juicy Tree featuring a treasure chest of lovelies from Juicy Couture.

“It’s our fifth year of being sold out,” said Orlando, who not only chaired the event but also decorated five trees.

“The trees get more amazing each year…the sponsors are wonderful! And all you have to do is buy a raffle ticket, or 100 or 500 to win a chance to win one of these fabulous trees!”

Orlando noted that all proceeds from the annual Light Up the Season Tree Raffle benefits the club, which has locations in Santa Paula, Fillmore and Piru as the “Positive Place for Kids.”

The succulent centerpieces were designed by Dianne Dudley and given away at the end of the event to a lucky table member.

Twelve-year-old Amber Wineman assisted Emcee Peggy Kelly, the fifth year the patient Newbury Park resident has teamed with her Grand’Mere to raffle the trees and good-naturedly rolling her eyes at Kelly’s antics.

Angels were the theme of Luke 6:38 sponsored by “Bob for my lovely Elda” and decorated for her father and late mother by Orlando. Spicing Up the Holidays was the goal of Red Hot Foods that donated a tree designed by Cathy Hicks that held fabulous foods as well as chili pepper lights. Firefighter’s Christmas’ was donated by the Fillmore Fire Fighters Association and decorated by Chief Keith Gurrola while Angela Evans for the Santa Paula Fire Fighters’ Association decorated The Chilling with Frosty Tree.

Happy HARLEY Holidays was a motorcyclist’s dream donated by Pacific Petroleum and decorated by Orlando, while OWL Be Home for Christmas was a wildlife fantasy donated by People Media Worldwide and decorated by Pearl Galvan and Laura Mendez.

Bank of the Sierra’s Dancing with the Stars tree sparkled with Hollywood glamour supplied by designer Tracey Grove and It’s All Fun & Games Until Santa Checks the Naughty List had plenty of fun games to play sponsored by the Kulwiec Group and designed by Galvan and Mendez. The romantic Venetian Holiday that included a gondola ride at Channel Islands was donated by R & R Pumping Unit Repair and designed by Orlando and Mickey and Friends was a Disney dream tree replete with oversized plush Mickey and Minnie’s sponsored by the Bartleson Family and the B&GCSCV and designed by Linda Bartleson.

Barking Around the Christmas Tree had everything for Fido and Fluffy as designed by Galvan and Mendez sponsored by Schuck, Becker & Dehesa, LLP and Tools The Night Before Christmas was a shock of “man stuff” including extension cords used as garlands and other fun but practical things for the handyman designed by Juarez and donated by CP Aviation.

The Santa Paula Unified School District had a perfect tree for kids, ‘Tis the Emoji Holidays with every fun symbol you can find on a computer, from ornaments to pillows and bags designed by Emma Posadas.

“It turned out just wonderful and everyone was tremendously generous,” said Marholin who noted the popularity of the event that drew guests from throughout Ventura, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties.
