Megan Richardson wins Girls’ State title

Santa Paula’s Megan Richardson has won the Girls’ State Wrestling Championship for the second time. The championship meet took place in Vallejo. Richardson competed in the 165-pound class. There were a total of 10 girls in that class. Because she was seeded first, Richardson had a bye in the first round. In the second round she pinned her opponent in 49 seconds. She came back in the semi-finals to win by a pin at 2:31. Finally, she took the title against a tough competitor with a third round pin at 4:59. She was far enough ahead in points to win by a decision before she pinned her opponent.Amanda Reed also went to the meet, wrestling in the 130-pound division. She had a bye in the first round but lost in the second round, 13-3.
