Santa Paula News
In commemoration of National Child Passenger Safety Week (February 9-15), the California Highway Patrol recently conducted a child passenger safety seat check-up. The safety check was held in the Santa Paula Kmart parking lot. The event was staffed by CHP technicians certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Staff training includes a standardized 32-hour course that qualifies the technician to educate parents in the correct seat for the type of vehicle, proper seat installation, and secure placement of the child in the seat. About a dozen parents took advantage of the free event. Officer George Myers (above) shows how to properly attach a child safety seat. Photo by Brian D. Wilson
