The board will get a budget update next month. “It’ll give us a true story of where we are,” said Superintendent Luis Villegas. “There’s a lot of positioning still going on in Sacramento.”Under this new proposal, employees who choose to take advantage of the offer will get a supplement to their state retirement, based on years in the district as well as their age.The company administering the plan for the district is contacting eligible employees and will hold an informational meeting next Monday, April 7. In addition, individual counseling sessions will be scheduled for employees expressing an interest in the plan.

The Santa Paula Elementary School District is offering supplemental retirement benefits to eligible employees.

WilsonSanta Paula TimesThe Santa Paula Elementary School District is offering supplemental retirement benefits to eligible employees.With the district facing major budget cuts from Sacramento, it’s hoped the supplemental employee retirement plan will encourage both teachers and non-teachers to consider retiring now. To get the supplement to their retirement employees must work six or more hours per day with a minimum of 10 years service in the district and reach the age of 55 by June 30, 2003.The District board voted in February to eliminate 20 non-teaching positions in the district and reduce the hours of another 55 people.
