One of the cars spun out of control and hit a pickup truck driven by Gary Gavin, 35 of Oxnard, who was traveling with his wife, Cynthia, and their children.Gavin was transported to VCMC where he was treated for broken fingers and a head wound before he was released. Cynthia Garvin and the children were treated for minor injuries.The drivers of the clipped cars were Cesar Sandoval, 32, and Maribel Tachiquin, 18, both of Fillmore. Sandoval was uninjured and Tachiquin was treated at VCMC for minor injuries.The driver of the white SUV fled the scene and is still at large.On May 8th, former Santa Paula High School teacher Angie Ornelas-G, 89, was killed instantly when she pulled out of a Highway 126 flower stand and her vehicle was struck by an 18-wheel-tractor trailer. Three others were injured in the five-vehicle crash and one victim was trapped beneath the overturned tractor-trailer for 90 minutes.That accident was followed within three days by a crash that killed a Fillmore couple when their sedan pulled out onto Highway 126 near Hopper Canyon Road and was struck broadside by a motor home. The couple riding in the motor home was not injured.During a recent Santa Paula meeting with constituents, Assemblyman Tony Strickland was asked to target Highway 126 for heightened traffic enforcement.

Accidents continue to plague Highway 126, which in recent months has started to again be known as Blood Alley.The latest accident occurred Thursday and involved four vehicles in a collision left two people injured, one seriously.According to a CHP spokesman, Miquel Flemmings, 19 of Los Angeles, was eastbound and just east of Old Telegraph Road at about 9:15 a.m. when his vehicle collided with a car driven by Kathleen Souhrada, 51 of Camarillo.Souchrada’s vehicle rolled down an embankment and Flemmings car crossed into the westbound lanes colliding with two other vehicles.Souhrada suffered major injuries and was transported by ambulance helicopter to Ventura County Medical Center. Her condition remains serious, a VCMC spokeswoman said Friday.Flemmings had minor injuries; the unidentified drivers of the two vehicles involved in the accident were not injured.Witnesses at the scene said an unsafe lane change caused the initial collision; the accident is still being investigated.On May 24th there was a four-car collision about four miles east of Santa Paula that left several people injured when an eastbound sport utility vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed clipped two cars.
