Santa Paula brothers arrested for methamphetamine sales

Santa Paula brothers were arrested as the result of a long undercover investigation into selling methamphetamine from a residence located on North 14th Street, according to a Santa Paula Police official.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesSanta Paula brothers were arrested as the result of a long undercover investigation into selling methamphetamine from a residence located on North 14th Street, according to a Santa Paula Police official.Commander Mark Hanson said the investigation that led to the arrest of Cornelo Perez, 18, and his brother, 24-year-old Rigoberto Perez, was the result of an investigation by the SPPD Special Enforcement Detail.On Aug. 1st at 7 a.m., a search warrant was served at a residence on the 300 block of North 14th Street, said Cmdr. Hanson, about 90 minutes after investigators initially gathered to plot strategy.The warrant was issued “in regards to a drug sales investigation that resulted in the arrest of two individual for sales of methamphetamine.”Cmdr. Hanson said the Perez brothers were “found to be in possession of a few balloons,” containing methamphetamine.
“In the scheme of things, it was not a huge amount of drugs but enough to be charged,” with drug related violations, he added.Methamphetamine is considered among the worst of illegal drugs as it can cause paranoia, extreme mood swings and bursts of violence in users. Antelope Valley, an active methamphetamine production center, several years ago conducted a study that showed rising incidents of spousal and child battery, as well as abuse.Cornelo Perez was arrested at the 14th Street residence and charged with possession and sales of methamphetamine.“His brother also sold drugs out of that house,” and Rigoberto Perez was located and arrested in the 300 block of South Steckel Drive and was charged with sales of methamphetamine.The Santa Paula Police Department Special Enforcement Detail was formed to target drug and gang activity.
