A career in District Attorney’s Office is demanding and requires that the job be done with “passion and conviction” in seeking the truth.Good-natured Jump added a moment of levity to the proceedings when DA Totten finished a long portion of the oath of office and waited for those being sworn into office to mirror the statements. “You’d better repeat that,” noted Jump.Jump noted that the last year has been a difficult one in which he had to undergo difficult surgeries, take the Bar Exam and chair the Santa Paula Rotary Club Christmas Basket Program.“I would not be here without my family and my wife who at times was the sole-caregiver for the family,” said Jump. “And I offer a thank you to my colleagues who supported me as well.”“Mike has a quality of sincerity that is so genuine that I think when he finally does have an opportunity to work as a trial prosecutor he will endear himself to the courts and the juries alike,” said DA Totten. For the foreseeable future, Jump will continue to work in securing outside funding sources. “Ventura County would be even poorer than it is without Mike, he has been so successful in obtaining grants,” that his courtroom time will be indefinitely delayed.“I’m absolutely confident that he will make a great prosecutor. . .he’s incredibly humble, no arrogance or pretension about Mike: what you see is what you get. He’s a triple threat, not only has the innate abilities that will make him successful in court but also an unusual knowledge of administration and budgeting. . .I wouldn’t be surprised to see him become the CEO of some agency or the county itself, Mike’s that talented.”Overall, DA Totten noted, “Mike’s the type of guy that if going into a fight, you’d want him with you.”
