Richardson wins Southern Section Championship

Santa Paula High School’s Megan Richardson is heading off to the State Championships this weekend, after taking the Southern Section Championship at the girls’ qualifying round this past weekend. Richardson pinned all three of her opponents in the qualifying round. She took her first match at 2:47 in the second period. Her second opponent was pinned to the mat in just 29 seconds of the first period. Her third match was a little tougher, but she finally got a pin at 4:20 of the third period.Richardson will most likely be ranked number one in her weight class at the State Championships this weekend in the San Francisco Bay area.Two other Santa Paula girls competed in the qualifying round. Camille Collison was eliminated after two rounds. Evelyn Oehmke lost out in the quarterfinals.
