It’s another full and fun weekend in Santa Paula for the latest series of Summer of 2004 multi-events and August is a blockbuster!
By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesIt’s another full and fun weekend in Santa Paula for the latest series of Summer of 2004 multi-events and August is a blockbuster!Friday night will be Cruise Nite on Main Street where classic carswill rule the night starting at about 6 p.m. and ending at 9, Saturday will see a Farmers Market, Art Show and Jazz Concert at the Gazebo and Sunday the Santa Paula California Oil Museum will be the place to be for the opening reception of a new art show. Also featured Saturday is the Summer Lights dinner-dance at the historic Glen Tavern Inn sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.“Cruise Nite has really been gaining in popularity,” noted Community Services Director Brian Yanez of the show that lines Main Street with vintage cars – none younger than 1975 - and other unique wheeled vehicles. Musical entertainment is also a Cruise Nite feature and area restaurants have special hours to accommodate the hungry Cruise Nite crowds.Main Street is shut down from 8th to 10th streets during Cruise Nite, an event co-sponsored by the Santa Paula Police Officers Association and the Chamber of Commerce.On Saturday the Railroad Plaza Gazebo will feature a Farmers Market, Art Show and artist demonstrations and a jazz concert in one of the prettiest venues in the city.The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature not only an array of the same vendors who offer goodies at the Wednesday Farmers Market, but also a special Santa Paula Society of the Arts display.The SPSA Gallery is located inside the historic Depot just east of the Gazebo and Yanez said society artists will also set up art shop in the Depot Park area.
