SPHS grad Kolbeck leads Claremont-McKenna to win

Sarah Kolbeck, a senior at Claremont-McKenna College last week led the Athenas to a sweep of their own David Wells Classic for the second straight year. They beat UC Santa Cruz Friday 52-46 at Pomona and then beat Bethel University Saturday at home 66-63.Against Santa Cruz Kolbeck led the team with 16 points and eight rebounds. In the Bethel contest again Kolbeck was the scoring leader with 25 points. She also shared the lead in rebounds with seven.The week before Kolbeck was selected SCIAC Athlete of the Week. On the season she is averaging 22 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 3.8 steals per game. She is shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 84.6 percent from the line.
Kolbeck was named the 2000 Co-MVP of the Frontier League, 2000 Ventura County Player of the Year, was a member of the Ventura College State Women’s Basketball Championship Teams for 2000-01 and 2001-02, 1st Team All-Western Sate Conference, and 2nd Team All-State while at Ventura College.
