Girls take on a strong Camarillo squad

The Cardinal girls put up three teams against Camarillo at home this week. For the only time this season there was a girls’ frosh/soph team on the floor. They lost to the Scorpions 41-28. Alyssa Ramirez hit the basket for nine points. Julie Estrada had five points for the frosh/soph girls and Kaci Marinus shot for four points.In the JV game Camarillo won 50-17. Sabrina Martinez had four points for the Lady Card JV and Janet Rodriguez had three points.The girls’ varsity lost their game 68-19. They played hard, but without the services of a key starter, the only senior on the team. Monica Jacinto, a junior, led the Lady Cardinals with six points.
Erika Mora, who plays wing for the Santa Paula varsity, was injured late in the game when she fell on the floor. She was taken to the hospital for stitches to her head and was reportedly doing well at home the next day.
