Phyllis Jean Taylor

Farewell Saint Nana, Full of Grace

Today we celebrate for two, both souls refreshed, all vows renewed. Today her lonely nights will end, her soul mate to her God does send. Tomorrow somehow we will learn to live without the grace she earned. And if her touch we start to miss we’ll close our eyes send up a kiss. Then let her go - with Papa - FREE! The way they were again they’ll be together forever! And someday… we’ll see!

The position of “Nana,” head matriarch of “Taylorville,” has been one of personal commitment: self-designed to model a Christian mentor and guide for each and all. Every smile and encouraging word a blessing, intended for sharing. Now, her legacy is one of compassion and forgiveness.

Just as the position of “Nana” can never be filled by another, likewise, “Taylorville” will also transform. As Nana and Papa’s spirits are kept alive, each of us will “make it,” we ALL will survive.

Phyllis Taylor impacted the hearts, souls, and memories of four devoted children: Debra, Clark (wife Cecilia), Linda, and Trina; as well as 13 adoring grandchildren and spouses: Mark, Haela (husband Jimmy), Loren, Trevor, Abby, Nicole, Gidget, Korina (Nayo), Luke, Jason, Leiana (husband Miguel), Veronica, and Josh; also, 13 greats: Michelle, Jasmine, Richie, Justin, Reggie, Jimmy, Devin, Ivy, Isaiah, Navaeh, Josiah, Bryn and (coming soon) Baby-Boy Phillip.

Because there are no x’s in T-A-Y-L-O-R, she’ll move on with the appreciation of those she never closed the door to.

On each side of her Savior, she will be victoriously welcomed by husband Richard “Papa,” grandson Taylor, mother-in-law Suzie, and three sons-in-law. “Nana and Papa” will forever be respected icons and greatly missed as they enjoy their new freedom!!!

In honor of Phyllis and all her Joy, Friends and Family invite you to Calvary Baptist Church, 14940 Telegraph Rd., Santa Paula (at Clow Road - 0.2 miles past Fides Co.), for a casual “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, June 12 at 11 a.m. For questions please call (805) 529-0523. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an arthritis foundation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula, 525-3391.

Wilma Aliene Rose

The Rose Family with sadness in their hearts would like to announce the passing of wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend Wilma Aliene Rose, who went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Louisburg, Missouri on January 10, 1930 to William and Lettie Ethridge.

More than anything in her life, Wilma was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was so proud of her children: Susan, Steven, Scott, Sid and Robert. They were the joys of her life and inherited her unique sense of humor. She left this world greatly comforted by the belief that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would raise their own to remember “Grandma Rose” as the witty, fun-loving, caring and affectionate woman they knew her to be.

Wilma will be reunited with her father and mother, William and Lettie Wooten Ethridge. Mrs. Rose leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Larry Rose; daughter Susan Yarbrough (Ray Rieder); sons Steven McKeen (Karen), Scott McKeen (Diane), Sid McKeen (Janet) and stepson Robert Rose; brother Cecil Ethridge (Charlene); sister Martha Kay Lynch (Jack); 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and also numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Graveside services were held June 7 at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, with Pastor David McKeever officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Skillin-Carroll Mortuary, 738 E. Santa Paula St., Santa Paula, 525-3391.
