A Pasadena man was injured when his BMW flew off South Mountain Road Tuesday, an accident the California Highway Patrol is investigating as a possible hit-and-run. A separate crash about an hour later did not injure the woman at the wheel of her vehicle, also traveling on South Mountain Road.

According to CHP Officer Steve Reid, the February 28 crash occurred at about 4:15 p.m. when the driver of a 1996 BMW Z3 was traveling eastbound in the 18000 block of South Mountain Road. The vehicle left the roadside and flipped into a drainage ditch.

According to Santa Paula Fire Assistant Chief Kevin Fildes, when an engine arrived on scene they found the driver outside the vehicle. Ventura County Fire also responded to the scene where the driver, Mark Andrizzi, 57, of Pasadena, was treated at the scene before being transported by ambulance to Ventura County Medical Center.

Fildes said Andrizzi sustained “moderate to minor injuries.... He was talking to us” before being transported to Ventura County Medical Center.

CHP Officer Reid said there are indications the accident could have been a hit-and-run. “The other car was described as possibly a gray vehicle,” and anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP at 477-1000.

The CHP responded to a second accident about an hour later, at approximately 5:15 p.m. on South Mountain Road east of Balcom Canyon Road. Reid said Daniela Rose Nemenz, 39, of Fillmore, was driving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma westbound when she lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over. The woman, said Reid, was not injured, but the report noted there was unspecified property damage resulting from the crash.
