Teens from St. Louis in Santa Paula to help church

A group of teens and adults from St. Louis, Missouri came to Santa Paula this week to help with property improvements at the former Trinity Lutheran Church on Harvard Boulevard. The group was led by Pastor Randy Wilken of Unity Lutheran Church in St. Louis. The team was made up of teenagers and adults from six of the Lutheran Churches in the St. Louis area. They do this kind of project once a month in East St. Louis. This was the first time they travelled out of their local area to work on a service project.The church has been renamed Centro Cristiano Hispano. Starting next month the church will open, providing English classes, after school programs and computer clubs for young people, activities for families, sports/fitness events, bible studies and worship in the Spanish language.Centro Cristiano Hispano will also be the headquarters and training center for the three Lutheran Hispanic ministries in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
The group arrived July 23 and will return to their homes July 31.
