Melissa H. Sayer of Santa Paula has been elected to her first term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Museum of History & Art.

Melissa H. Sayer of Santa Paula has been elected to her first term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ventura County Museum of History & Art. She is a partner in the law firm of Nordman, Cormany, Hair & Compton LLP, and is active in agricultural and water-related issues through her work with the Association of Water Agencies and as a member of the Ventura County Farm Bureau, the California Avocado Society and California Women for Agriculture. She and her family reside in Santa Paula.Tommy Slater has been elected President of the Board, which prepares for a major building expansion of the museum this coming spring. Slater is Vice President, Senior Regional Trust and Investment Relationship Officer at Mid State Bank & Trust in Ventura, has been on the museum board for six years, and most recently served as board Treasurer. Slater succeeds two-term President John McConica II, who will continue to serve on the board.
Esther Wachtell has rejoined the board, and Linda Edison, Spencer Garrett, and Don Zender have been elected to serve second terms. New board officers include John McConica II as Past President, John C. Orr as First Vice President, Mary McGrath as Second Vice President, Linda Edison as Secretary, and Jim Rivera as Treasurer. Retiring board members include Dr. Jesus Gonzales, Larry Lindgren, Andrea H. Pfister, Vickie Pozzi, and Sara Jane Underwood.
