Cut your own christmas tree.

Cut your own christmas tree. What a concept. According to Dan Roatcap, his family has been growing and supplying fresh Christmas trees to folks in Southern California for thirty seven years. Dan says “fresh cut trees are safer, last longer and best of all are grown in Santa Paula, California. Not another state. We grow the Monterey Pine because it is the most fragrant of the pine tree family. This year our crop is excellent, the trees are full, with great color and density. In fact we were recently awarded 1st place in the Monterey Pine category by the California Christmas Tree Association and we will be sending 10 of our award winning trees to our troops-where ever they may be. The “Trees for Troops” program is sponsored by the (NCTA) National Christmas Tree Association and is promoted by the “Christmas Spirit Foundation”. More information about this program is available at: www.christmastree.orgOur trees are certified “Tree Fresh” by the CCTA. This group sets the standards of excellence for Christmas Trees grown in California with education programs, for the growers, through the University of California system, plus they sponsors studies that control pests and disease that are native to California, all to the benefit of the environment”.Santa Paula Christmas Tree Farm is located on highway 126, one quarter mile East of Hallock Drive. It is a unique experience in the USA, adds Dan, “because it is the only farm that has a train that stops long enough for the passengers to detrain, choose and cut the perfect tree. The Fillmore Western Railroad rolls into the farm on a regular schedule. Contact them for more info.”
The farm operates from November 24th through December 24, daily from 9A.M. to dark (usually around 5 P.M.). On the weekends there are pony rides, jumpers and wall climbers for the kids.Monterey Pine trees start at $34.50 for trees up to 8 feet. The larger most expensive trees are $75.00. Dan also noted that he has a full staff to help cut, shake out the loose needles, bag and load your perfect tree.
