Cardinal wrestlers compete at Channel Islands

The Cardinal wrestling team took part in a wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday at Channel Islands High School. On Friday, Santa Paula lost their first two matchups, but won the third, beating San Luis Obispo 42-33. They finished with another loss.Chris Vandergeugten went 3-2, as did Gilbert Villarreal. Joe Camacho and Michael Gonzalez both were 4-0 for the first day, winning all their matches with pins.On Saturday the Cards won their first meet against Hueneme 42-18, but lost the next three. Camacho tied for first place with a 9-0 tournament record. Gonzalez was third for the meet with a 7-2 record.
