“Wine, Wings & Winnings” Event Springs Forward

The Aviation Museum of Santa Paula’s fundraising event “Wine, Wings & Winnings” has been moved from Fall to Spring in 2010.
Mark your calendars for the new event date: April 3, and plan on all the excitement that you’ve come to enjoy-a fabulous venue, beer and wines from exceptional local establishments, wonderful foods, unique auction items, and the added entertainment of a Casino Night to amuse you. The event is by advance paid reservations only. The main taxiway is decorated with vintage aircraft and beautiful foliage-that alone is worth seeing. Attendees are met at the entrance with a commemorative glass, drink tickets, a Program, $500 of AMSP Funny-Money and are sent into a sparkling world of twinkling lights and festive tables where they can taste wine or beer, enjoy all kinds of foods, and peruse beautifully displayed auction items with descriptive sales sheets.
Judy McCarthy, AMSP Event Planner said, “Last year’s auction included fine art and photography, over 20 baskets with all kinds of mixed treats, books, food and entertainment gift certificates, memorabilia, a rechargeable electric scooter, a 10-speed bike, and a 3-hour cruise on a tall ship for 40 people. We had something to pique everyone’s interest! And we expect nothing less at the Spring event.”
Across the way, Hangar One houses the “Casino” for the evening including Craps, Poker, Black Jack and Roulette. Casino Night prizes include a grand prize of a weekend in Las Vegas.
“The great thing about a Casino Night is if someone doesn’t know how to play these games, this environment is where anyone can learn the games without squandering their own money. And the Dealers-both professional dealers and local pilots recruited for the task-are more than happy to talk you through it,” stated Pat McCollum, Director of Operation for the Museum and Wine Wings & Winnings Pit Boss.
AMSP President, Judy Phelps added, “Now that we’ve added the Winnings to Wine and Wings, the Museum has an exciting event to raise money for our new headquarters and put the planned programs of historic Santa Paula Airport in place.”
