It wasn’t a Happy Halloween for three teenagers and an adult male who were arrested on suspicion of various charges after a Santa Paula Police probation search of an area residence.

According to SPPD Lieutenant Troyce Reynolds, officers conducted the Sunday, October 31 probation search at 6:55 p.m. in the 600 block of Oak Street.

As officers approached the residence, “Several subjects ran into the house and refused to come to the door.” Eventually a subject answered the door and several people came outside, but officers believed others were still inside the house.

Reynolds said that officers checking the residence found Manuel Villanueva, 18, of Santa Paula, hiding in a bathroom. “He was in the shower,” said Reynolds. “It had glass doors... so it wasn’t a very good hiding place.” Another subject, 23-year-old Luis Duran of Santa Paula, was found hiding behind a bedroom door.

Reynolds said during the investigation four arrests were made: Villanueva was arrested on suspicion of obstructing a police officer, Duran was taken into custody also for suspicion of obstructing a police officer, Mark Lugo, 18, of Santa Paula, for suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, and Victor Martinez, 18, of Santa Paula, for violation of probation and suspicion of making criminal threats.
