Lady Cardinals capture title at Fillmore JV basketball tourney

The Lady Cardinal JV basketball squad took first place at last weekend’s Fillmore Tournament.
The Santa Paula girls played Hueneme in the championship game. They won that contest 47-42. Vanessa Chavez led the charge with 20 points and was also the tournament MVP.
Lauren Lazos and Marissa Ramos were All-Tournament players. Ramos had 10 points and Sierra Blair added another 7.
The JV team started off with a 46-21 win over Villanova. Friday they beat San Marcos 49-14 and they followed that with a 35-14 win over Fillmore. Chavez had 12 points. Ramos had 6 points and 10 rebounds.
