Two micro-earthquakes occurred last week near Santa Paula on or closely adjacent to San Cayetano Fault, just east of the Mission Ridge Arroyo Parida Fault, according to the California Integrated Seismic Net.
Unlike most Santa Clara River Valley earthquake activity the two micro-shakers occurred west of Santa Paula.
Each earthquake measured 1.6-magnitude and occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 12.
The first mini-shaker hit at 2:57 a.m. 6 miles north-northwest from Santa Paula. The 1.6-magnitude shaker was located 34.440°N, 119.103°W at a depth of 5.9 miles.
The event occurred 8 miles east of Ojai and 13 miles north-northeast from Ventura.
The second 1.6 magnitude micro-earthquake was recorded at 4:23 a.m.
It was mapped 7 miles north-northwest from Santa Paula and its exact location was reported to be 34.445°N, 119.113°W. The depth of the micro-earthquake was recorded at 5.8 miles.
The event occurred 8 miles east from Ojai and 9 miles east from Meiners Oaks.
The California Integrated Seismic Net includes the U.S. Geological Service and Caltech among other agencies.
