S.P. Police searching for suspect in South Steckel shooting, one wounded

Santa Paula Police are asking the public to help find out just who shot a 22-year-old man who was fired on while talking with friends Wednesday evening.
According to SPPD Sr. Detective Ken Clark, the incident was reported to police at about 8:23 p.m. when Santa Paula Hospital personnel called 9-1-1 to say a gunshot victim had been brought to the Emergency Room. When officers responded they found the victim being treated for a single gunshot wound. “He was only shot one time, I believe in the shoulder area,” an injury Clark said was “not life-threatening."
The victim was willing to talk with the investigators, but Clark said he didn’t have much information. “He was cooperative, but told us just that he heard the shots and realized he was hit... I believe he was hanging out with other people” when the shots rang out.
The victim, a resident of Santa Paula, told investigators the incident occurred in the 200 block of South Steckel Drive. No one else was struck by gunfire.
Clark said investigators responded to the South Steckel Drive area where the victim said he was fired on and “found evidence of a shooting.... Detectives and officers cordoned off the area for investigation,” looking for more clues and to question potential witnesses.
