Rose (Grandma Rosie) Lopez Sanchez

Rose (Grandma Rosie) Lopez Sanchez, 98 of Santa Paula, peacefully united with Our Lord, while home, surrounded by her family on June 9, 2014.

Grandma Rosie was born on Sept. 6, 1915 in El Paso, Texas and had been a resident of Ventura County for ninety-five years.  She was a homemaker for seventy-two years and worked at Saticoy Lemon for a few years.  Rosie was a loving, forgiving, faithful, and courageous woman.  She enjoyed spending her time sewing, knitting, crocheting, and winning awards at the local fair for her artistic abilities.  She loved camping, baking, playing cards, and praying the rosary.  Rose was a wonderful storyteller and fashionista; one would never see her out of the house under dressed and without her lipstick.  She was a member of St. Sebastian Parish, M.A.C.O., and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Rosie is survived by her loving husband of sixty-five years, Peter T. Sanchez; her children Ernie (Glenda) Sevilla, Angie (Jesus) Solis, Tommie (Edward) Reyes; and grandchildren Rosemary (Larry) Navarro, Albert (Janice) Sevilla, Patricia Medrano, Ernie Sevilla, Eileen Sevilla, Louie (Ellen) Sevilla, Gina Bautista, Sandra (Ruben) Vela, Alex Galvan, Lorraine (John) Buckley, David Arguelles, Annette (Ismael) Cordero,  Melissa (Ramiro) Delgadillo, Kristen (Danny) Wreesman; forty-one great grandchildren, and thirty-eight great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She has been reunited with her children Manuel, Albert, Phillip, Alfred Sevilla; granddaughter Carmen Galvan-Herrera; sisters Maria Lopez, Concha Banuelos; brother John Hernandez, and parents Concepcion and Modesta Lopez in heaven.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Grandma Rosie’s best friend, Carmen Sandoval, for her kindness and support.  Thanks also, to her physician, Dr. A. Meyers, and the staff of Livingston Hospice for the gentle care she received during her final days.

Grandma Rosie’s loving and comforting spirit will be celebrated beginning with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm, Monday, June 16, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 427 North Oak Street, Santa Paula. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Tuesday, June 17, 2014 also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal & Interment will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.
