In addition to donated materials, a site supervisor is needed for the project. The site supervisor will work closely with the local Habitat for Humanity construction coordinator. The person for this role should have prior construction experience. This person will be overseeing unskilled construction volunteers. This is approximately a six-month commitment. If you would like to donate materials or have any questions regarding the project you can contact Joe Jauregui at 525-4407.

The Santa Paula Women of History Project donated $750 to the Rotary Club of Santa Paula/Habitat for Humanity Project. Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate substandard housing worldwide by asking local organizations to sponsor a house. The Rotarians needed to raise $35,000 in cash before Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County could approve the start of the building phase of the home to be located at 622 N. Oak St. in Santa Paula. Proceeds from the Santa Paula Women of History Project’s “Macho Man” Dinner donated to the Rotary Club of Santa Paula enabled the Rotarians to reach the initial goal of $35,000. The total cost of constructing a house is $70,000.“The support of the community has been overwhelming,” states Joe Jauregui, project leader for the local Rotarians. “We began raising funds this past January and we have been able to reach our initial goal in just 10 months! We were told the average amount of time to raise the initial $35,000 was 12 months. The generosity of individuals made this possible.”To complete the project, an additional $35,000 needs to be raised. The additional funds can be gifts of materials and services that are deductible and will reduce the amount of cash the Rotarians need to raise to complete the house. Some of the materials needed include: one 20-foot long 6 3/4" x 18" glu-lam 24 F-V3 beam; 32 18' #1 Douglas Fir 2"x12"; 100 feet of 3/4" copper pipe type L or M; 5/8" x 4' x 12' drywall sheets; 1,000 feet of 3-wire #12 NMS; and 1,550 feet of 2-wire #12 NMS.
