Peggy Kelly installed the officers and each received a pretty but practical floral tribute, a flower tipped pen.Aside from President Welsh and 1st Vice President Caudillo, other officers installed were: 2nd Vice President Lynne Morrison, Recording Secretary Janice Rice, Corresponding Secretary Vernon Tubbs, Treasurer Maxine Spracklen, and Assistant Treasurer Annette Subic.Directors installed were Earl Potter (3-Year Term), Paul Smith (2-Year Term) and Audrey Robertson (1-Year Term).The Santa Paula AARP Chapter features regular meetings held at the Community Center, each meeting offering a guest speaker tackling issues ranging from health care to local issues, and/or a special activity. The February meeting will have a White Elephant Sale to help raise funds for the chapter.AARP members enjoy a monthly newsletter that offers club information as well as news about senior issues. The organization is the sponsor of 55 Alive, a driver education program that not only sharpens the skills but also reduces auto insurance premiums.

Santa Paula Times“To serve, not be served,” is the motto of AARP, the American Association of Retired Persons, and Santa Paula Chapter #2022 installed its Board of Directors at the December meeting.The installation was highlighted by a “Good Old Fashioned Sing Along” with pianist Wilma Poe and Elaine Price offering a nostalgic roster of songs including holiday favorites.“Our membership is climbing and we’re going to keep on climbing,” said President June Welsh, who started her second term December 3rd.Welsh thanked the members for bringing toys to be donated to the Rotary Christmas Basket Program and became the recipient of a surprise gift presented by 1st Vice President Jody Caudillo.“On behalf of the board and the members, we thank you for being president and being president again!” said Caudillo.“I enjoy seeing you each month and enjoy AARP,” said Welsh.
