A golf course and equestrian center could also be a part of the project.“As a result of the election we think we heard what the voters said, and we moved forward with the county,” for the new plan, said Boyd.Pinnacle has been meeting with city staff and council members to learn city goals, noted Boyd. “Whether we develop in the city or the county we’re neighbors and want to be good neighbors,” regarding issues of water, transportation and traffic impacts, among others.“The city of Santa Paula is in a unique situation with planning. . .I don’t think I’ve ever seen near-term growth in the hands of literally a handful of people,” who own property in Adams and Fagan canyons.Boyd noted that Pinnacle has “gotten tremendous cooperation from everyone. . .we want to move forward,” and address development issues, including mitigation for impacts on the city.“We look forward to a relationship that all the stakeholders sit at the same table and put our heads together,” on development issues, Boyd said.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesAdams Canyon will be developed albeit on a much smaller scale, the City Council was told at the July 21st meeting.The 5,400-acre Adams Canyon was the focus of a ballot initiative to bring it into the city’s urban restriction boundary for future development, an effort that was overwhelming rejected by voters in November.Santa Paula Development Partners had proposed 2,500 homes, a 10-acre shopping center, hotel and golf courses to be built in the canyon, located about four miles north of the city.Greg Boyd, of the Arizona-based Pinnacle Group, which sought to gain voters’ approval, said the project is being scaled back to about 400 homes.
