Road-rage the rage: Two incidents on Hwy 126, man severely injured

Road-rage was all the rage in the Santa Clara River Valley when two separate incidents left one man severely injured in Fillmore; later that day law enforcement officers had to break up a free-for-all in Santa Paula that started when a big-rig driver couldn’t complete passing another vehicle.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesRoad-rage was all the rage in the Santa Clara River Valley when two separate incidents left one man severely injured in Fillmore; later that day law enforcement officers had to break up a free-for-all in Santa Paula that started when a big-rig driver couldn’t complete passing another vehicle.According to a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman, the two unrelated incidents occurred on Highway 126 on Sunday, Aug. 10.The first incident occurred at about 9 a.m. when two men became involved in a traffic dispute while traveling westbound on the highway.Ronald Romero, 23, of Northridge, was involved in the traffic dispute with Lorin Jordan, 52, of Canyon Country. The two men followed each other on Highway 126, with Romero suspected of trying to force Jordan and his passenger off the highway.The two drivers stopped at William Morris Chevrolet and a fistfight ensued. Jordan suffered a concussion and possible skull fractures and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center.
Romero was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery, reckless driving and driving without a license. He was transported to Ventura County Jail with bail set at $21,500.Romero and Jordan’s passenger were not injured.Sunday’s second road rage incident started at about 10 p.m. when Boris Alvandian, 42, of Glendale, tried to pass another vehicle with his big-rig truck while traveling westbound on Highway 126 near Hallock Drive.Alvandian was unable to pass the vehicle and when several other drivers somehow became involved they all pulled over to the side of the highway where a fight broke out among six people.Alvandian pulled a crowbar from his big-rig and allegedly cut someone with it before it was taken away from him. Deputies broke up the fight and cited Alvandian for reckless driving.Both incidents are still under investigation.
