A Santa Paula man is recovering after being stabbed by a man trying to rob him early on Thanksgiving morning in Oxnard.

By Peggy KellySanta Paula TimesA Santa Paula man is recovering after being stabbed by a man trying to rob him early on Thanksgiving morning in Oxnard.Juan Luna, 46 of Santa Paula, was walking in the 500 block of Cooper Road at about 1 .m. when he was approached, according to an Oxnard Police Department spokesman.The man attempted to rob Luna, who was stabbed once in the right calf during the attack.The suspect fled the scene on foot and Oxnard police were able to get a description of the stabber from Luna, who received a moderate wound in the knife attack.Oxnard police canvassed the area surrounding the scene where the stabbing had occurred and located a suspect. They arrested 21-year-od Miguel Morales of Oxnard on suspicion of attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
Luna was treated and released from St. John’s Medical Center in Oxnard.Oxnard police investigators believe that Luna was chosen at random by the robber who stabbed him when Luna balked at handing over his cash.Shortly after Luna was attacked an Oxnard man who was shot while riding his bicycle in an alley.The victim although wounded by two bullets, was treated and released.Later on Thanksgiving Day, a third Oxnard man was confronted by two men armed with a handgun who forced the victim to drive to a Port Hueneme-area automated teller machine. After the victim withdrew funds and handed then over to his kidnappers, they shoved him out of the vehicle and fled. The vehicle was later recovered.
