The fine art prints of the mural are made from a scan of Don Gray’s original oil painting of the mural. The prints are produced by Christopher August of San Luis Obispo, founding member of the International Association of Fine Art Digital Printmakers, using the Iris 3047. The Iris 3047 employs unique patented technology to apply over a million droplets of ink per second via nozzles one-tenth the diameter of a human hair to high quality watercolor paper mounted on a rotating drum. Acid-free papers and the most stable inks available for the Iris are used.Only 150 of the prints will be made. Each is signed and numbered by Don Gray. The mural prints cost $150 ($100 of the total is tax deductible and all is a contribution to the Santa Paula Murals Project).The Davis Street mural was painted by Don Gray, an artist selected by the Santa Paula Murals Committee after a nationwide search. Gray’s artwork has been exhibited across the country, featured in magazines and books, and is collected by corporations and individuals. Gray has painted murals throughout the western states.The Davis Street mural beautifully captures the history of Santa Paula’s citrus industry. The four panels of the mural illustrate the important contributions made by Nathan Blanchard, the founder of Santa Paula and of Limoneira, and by the workers who toiled in the orchards and in the packing houses.
