Isbell Pep Flag Team places first at Sharp National Championship

The Isbell Pep Flag Team placed first at the Sharp National Championships held May 15 at Raging Waters in San Dimas.

The Isbell Pep Flag Team placed first at the Sharp National Championships held May 15 at Raging Waters in San Dimas. Thirty-one sixth, seventh and eighth graders from Isbell Middle School competed in three teams in different divisions.The flag teams each placed first in their divisions: Junior High School Medium Pep One Flag Division, Junior High School Large Pep One Flag Division, and Junior High School Medium Pep Two Flag Division. The Pep Two Flag Team also received the overall high score of 86.25, adding a fourth first place trophy to the Isbell awards.The Isbell twirlers had “an educational and exciting experience” as they competed with many other cheer, dance and flag teams in a “spirited and friendly” competition. “These girls really impressed me this season,” stated Coach Jeanette Fairbanks. “They pulled together as a team, supporting and encouraging each other with confidence and self-discipline as the strived for and then achieved success.”
This year’s Isbell Pep Flag Team has placed first 15 times this season and second twice. “The trophy case at Isbell School is now completely full,” said Fairbanks.The team expressed thanks to their parents, Coach Fairbanks, and assistant coaches Erin O’Brien, Alejandra Chavez and Mariana Lazano for their support and dedication. They look forward to another great year in 2004-2005.
