JV loses by just two points to Bishop Diego

It was a battle of defense-versus-defense last week, as the Santa Paula JV football team played at Bishop Diego High School in Santa Barbara. The Santa Paula 11 lost the game by a close 8-6 score.Neither team could get a strong offense going and no one scored in the first quarter.Bishop finally got the ball into Santa Paula territory with 2:34 left on the clock in the second quarter. With the two-point conversion, they went into half time with an 8-0 lead.Francisco Cancino made a 39-yard run in the third quarter for Santa Paula’s only TD.
The back-and-forth contest continued in the fourth quarter, with no one scoring again.The JV meets up with Nordhoff this Friday at 4:30 p.m. in a home game.
